Willmott Dixon, one of the UK’s largest construction companies, invited local business leaders to join them at Woodbury Park Hotel to celebrate the opening of a new South West headquarters for the business.

Guests included representatives of Exeter Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Exeter City Council, East Devon District Council, Exeter Science Park and the Met Office as well as many of the firm’s locally based suppliers.

The firm was welcomed to the region by Derek Phillips, vice president of Exeter Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Karime Hassan, chief executive of Exeter City Council.

Willmott Dixon makes a commitment to local spend wherever possible, with over 65% of project budgets designated to companies within 35 mile radius of a scheme.

In the South West this remains a priority: one of the firm’s current major projects is construction of the Met Office’s HPC Complex at Exeter Science Park, where 92% of the £20 million project budget has been spent within 40 miles.

The new office, in Arlington House, Exeter Business Park, will house a permanent South West team, drawn from a mixture of existing Willmott Dixon people and those specially recruited to manage the growing number of projects Willmott Dixon are delivering in the region.
