Parkinson’s UK would like to thank Thrifty Car and Van rental for a fantastic year of fundraising, which has raised nearly £27,000 for the charity.

The partnership with Thrifty, whose head office is in Exeter, Devon, began in 2015 after the firm’s 1,500 employees voted for Parkinson’s UK as their national charity of the year. Thrifty currently operates in 95 locations across the UK, with a fleet of over 12,500 cars and 4,500 vans and minibuses.

Thrifty staff really threw themselves into fundraising, participating in a whole host of events, such as sponsored walks, dress down days and raffles. In addition the company provided a charitable donation to Parkinson’s UK of £1 for every rental made via their website.

Linda Malliff, Director of Central Services at Thrifty commented: “We’re absolutely delighted to have raised almost £27,000 for Parkinson’s UK. It’s the most amount of money we’ve ever raised for a charity and we hope that it will help Parkinson’s UK in ensuring that no one has to face Parkinson’s alone.”

Paul Jackson-Clark, Director of Fundraising at Parkinson’s UK, added: “We would like to thank Thrifty Car and Van rental for engaging their employees across the country in fundraising and raising money and awareness.

Our corporate partnerships are vital in helping us to raise the funds needed to support people with Parkinson’s across the UK”.

Parkinson’s Awareness Week runs from 18-24 April 2016
