Copplestone PTA think big to raise funds
Copplestone Parent Teacher Association has announced the first Copplestone Music Proms in the Park is to feature Exeter Children's Orchestra.
Simon Archer, Chairman of the CPTA, said “This is a major coup for us. To get the ECO to perform in Copplestone is a great honour and very exciting. We wanted to give the children and parents of Copplestone Primary School a night to remember.”
The CPTA work tirelessly to raise funds towards providing those extras for the school, which enhance the children’s education or enjoyment of school. This is usually fundraising events to provide money for items that are additional to the school budget.
“We try to organise fun events for the children, which hopefully raise some money too. The type of fundraising events we run are discos, summer fete, Christmas fair, puzzle day, cake sales, art exhibitions,” said Simon.
Stuart Busby, the Executive Head, was equally enthusiastic, “Music plays an important part in the school's philosophy. This is a great opportunity for the community of Copplestone to become involved with the children's understanding of the important part that music can play in their development.”
This open air concert will feature the renowned 75-piece Exeter Children’s Orchestra who will be playing on the school grounds on Saturday 22 June 2013 from 6pm-8pm. They will perform a selection of classical favourites and rousing anthems in Copplestone, not long after their recent engagement in France and last year in Russia.
The audience are encouraged to add to the Proms atmosphere by singing along and waving a flag or two. Patrons are asked to bring along their own picnic, chairs and rugs, and enough friends to make it a real occasion.
Tickets are £5 per adult, with accompanied children free of charge.
