Children will have the chance to clamber on fire engines, get locked inside a police car and inspect an ambulance and first responder vehicle at an Emergency Services Blue Light Day, which takes place at Challaborough Bay Holiday Park on Saturday August 8th.

The event is free to attend and takes place between 10am and 4pm and is being held to heighten awareness of Devon’s emergency services.

Organiser Pete Watts, Watch Manager from Modbury fire station, said: “It’s a really fantastic opportunity for families to come along and find out all about the emergency services and talk to some of the emergency personnel from the local community.”

Among the vehicles on display will be a police van, complete with cage and finger printing kit, a first responder vehicle and Ambulance with a chance to have learn how to do CPR or use a defibrillator which are becoming increasingly common place, as well as, of course, an operational fire engine.

Families will also have access to all the  attractions at the holiday park which  include an amusement arcade, kids adventure playground area with pirate ship, a ball pool and a restaurant and bar.

Pete said: “We’re really looking forward to showcasing the emergency services and giving people the opportunity to see for themselves what we do. It will be a lot of fun for children, who will even get a chance to dress up as a firefighter with a real fireman’s helmet!”
