Fire at Devon caravan park
Officers from Devon and Cornwall Police were called to the Lady's Mile Caravan Park in Dawlish this morning after a car was found on fire.
The fire service were alerted to the incident at 3.14 am, and on arrival found a vehicle to be well alight along with approximately ten feet of fence panel. They got to work fighting the fire using two sets of breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets. The car was extinguished using the above equipment but was severely damaged by fire.
Police also attended as it was believed to have been deliberate ignition.
Inspector Pete Turner confirmed that their original suspicions had been squashed.
He said: "It was initally believed that the vehicle had become on fire deliberately. Further inspection showed that there was no cause for suspicion."
He also confirmed no further investigation would be taking place.
