I am dying... please help me
Doting Exeter mum Jo Smith is making a desperate appeal... to live.
The 37-year-old mum needs urgent help in raising funds to pay for treatment she hopes will extend the time she can spend with her five-year-old son.
In this heartfelt letter she appeals for your help:
My name is Jo. I am a 37 year old mummy from Exeter. I have lived here all of my life. But now I am dying. I am 1 in 7 billion, the only person in the world to suffer from a combination of two terminal diseases, Idiopathic Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension and Follicular Lymphoma.
In April this year I was given up to two months to live but I am still fighting. I am fighting for my son. My son has just turned 5 years old and the happiest, bubbliest little boy you could meet. He is always smiling and laughing. I don't want to shatter his world and cause him heartbreak and sadness.
I need to live for him. I love him beyond words and he loves me "Up to the castle at the top of the hill, up into the sky and all the way as far as the farthest planet and back again."
I have found a Doctor in the USA who believes he can help me and I am determined to try to get to him.
He understands my uniqueness and is going to find out the cause of my diseases rather than just trying to treat the symptoms, which has not worked.
Doctors here have given up on me and put me in palliative care. But something triggered my diseases, I was a fit and healthy 33 year old mum when I suddenly became ill. The Doctor in the USA will not give up on me until he has found the cause and treated it. Doctors here admit it could be a simple deficiency, a gene mutation, hormonal imbalance, signals from my tumour or a combination of factors but they simply do not have the funds to test me.
I believe this is my only chance as my condition is so severe now but I am determined to do everything I can. If I don't do this now I don't have much longer with my son. I want to prove the doctors here wrong. I want to live.
Myself and Rudey are asking for your help. We need to raise £70,000 for this treatment. If you can contribute any amount to my fund at all we would be eternally grateful. Its impossible to put in to words how grateful we would be.

Your kindness is invaluable to myself & Rudey, thank you, from the very bottom of our hearts.
Warmest wishes
Jo & Rudey Smith
