Blundell's Road closed for five days
Road users are being reminded that Blundell’s Road in Tiverton is closed to through traffic for five days from today (Monday 22 August).
The closure is needed to carry out essential resurfacing as part of road safety and traffic calming improvements to reduce speeds and make it easier for pedestrians to cross the road.
The first phase of the £1.1 million scheme is establishing a 20mph limit in the area around Blundell's Road, extending into Tidcombe Lane. Raised table traffic-calming is being introduced on Blundell's Road, and the road is being narrowed outside of the school and in the areas where the raised tables are located. A new puffin crossing is also being installed near Blundell's School.
The remainder of this first phase of the scheme will be carried out either side of Blundell's School during September and October. Temporary traffic lights will be in place for the majority of this work, although a closure will again be needed to complete surfacing work, starting on Monday 24 October.
The work is being carried out by SIAC Construction Ltd.
