Festival organisers in Teignbridge are invited to get on board with a new event aimed at giving them all the help they need in ensuring their event is a success.

Teignbridge is organising a new Festivals Forum event on April 3 from 4pm – 6.30pm at Old Forde House, Newton Abbot. The forum is focused on helping established and new festival organisers, big or small, come together under one roof to help make it easier for them to stage their events and reassure themselves that they have everything covered and are up to date with all the new developments in the industry.

Teignbridge District Council’s Leader Cllr Jeremy Christophers will open the event which will also feature The Earl of Devon, Charles Courtenay, as a keynote speaker. He will share with delegates his experience of holding festivals at his home of Powderham Castle.

The forum will include various organisations who help ensure festivals run smoothly. Experts on hand will include Teignbridge, Devon and Cornwall Police, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, South Western Ambulance service, Devon County Council. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask any detailed questions about planning their own particular festival.

Space is limited and people are being urged to book on soon as places are being snapped up fast.

Cllr Christophers said: “Following a mega year last year with the Radio 1 Big Weekend at Powderham and the Tour of Britain at Haytor our attention turns to other local events.

“This event is an opportunity for everyone involved in the rich and varied South Devon festival season to share our experiences. Whether it's music, food, culture or craft, Teignbridge has it all. As Leader of the Council, I recognise the huge impact these festivals have on the people, whether they are local to or visitors to the district.

“Our aim is to listen to how we and other statutory organisations can help the organisers do their job to best possible standards, to ensure all our events are safe, sustainable and fun!

“I’d like to thank Teignbridge officers, in particular Economic Development Officer Allie Clark and Economy Projects Officer Tom Winters for organising this event and would encourage anyone in Teignbridge who runs their own event to come along and take advantage of being in a place where all the experts are available to speak with.”

A cream tea will be served at the start of the event and teas and coffees will be available throughout.
