Car fire at McDonald's Cullompton services

One fire fighting appliance from Cullompton fire station attended reports of a car on fire outside Mcdonald's restaurant at the Cullompton services at 6.37am today.

Upon arrival, crews found one vehicle well alight.

Crews used two breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire which was located in the engine compartment.

Meanwhile, crews attended reports of a fire at the Red Lion House at Membury in Axminster last night.

Appliances from Chard, Colyton and Honiton were called to the scene at 6.29pm.

The fire was confined to the outbuilding roof of a stone and tile building and had been extinguished prior to the brigade's arrival using a hosepipe.

Crews used a triple extention ladder and thermal imaging camera to investigate further to make sure no hotspots.

* Earlier in the evening firefighters were called to reports of a child locked in a car in Mount Radford Crescent, Mount Radford, Exeter.  One appliance from Danes Castle attended the incident at 4.54pm.

The child was released and reunited with her mother uninjured.
