Chilcotts Auctioneers has recently invested in a new set of stylish corporate clothing for the auction house team.

The updated workwear range includes quilted and fleece gilets and jackets, shirts, blouses and polos. All are in the established blue colours of the Honiton business, and branded with embroidered logos.

Auctioneer Duncan Chilcott said: “During the last year we have taken on several new members of staff, and we wanted our customers to be able to quickly identify them - in our business it is important to know that you are dealing with the right person.

“In addition, Chilcotts is a family-run firm and it seemed appropriate that every member of staff should feel completely involved with our ethos: professional, smart, but not too formal. The new clothing reflects this well.”

Aprons are available as an option for Chilcotts’ saleroom assistants, harking back to established tradition. “It’s customary for porters in auction houses to wear aprons, although nowadays these are generally only popular among the female assistants, with their male counterparts preferring gilets,” explained Liz Chilcott.

The Chilcotts team are all delighted with the new corporate wear. Katie Rumbold, who serves at the silver counter, enthused, “I just love my ‘pinny’ - give me a pinny any day! I think they look incredibly smart.”

Local company A1 Print and Stitch was responsible for the new look, fully answering the brief for the clothes to be practical, ensuring that the staff are warm in winter, comfortable and able to move, lift and carry easily, while still being stylish.

“It’s really nice that we’re all of a piece, and the look has received much praise from our customers,” added Liz.
