Half term with East Devon’s Countryside team

Join East Devon’s education rangers for an action-packed week of activities from 16 to 20 February 2016

East Devon District Council’s Countryside team is preparing for a fun-filled half term of activities for children and parents at a number of popular nature sites in East Devon from 16 to 20 February 2016.

The planned activities start on Tuesday February 16 with Wildlife Gardening on the Wetlands. At this free event, which runs from 10am to 2pm, children and grown-ups alike will have the chance to develop the wildlife garden at Seaton Wetlands, creating bird boxes, bug hotels and compost cottages.

Seaton Wetlands is also the venue for Bird watching for children, which is taking place on Wednesday February 17, from 12noon to 2pm. This fantastic introduction to the art of bird watching will give children the opportunity to learn about the birds they see on the lagoon at Black Hole Marsh. Cost: £2.

On Thursday February 18, from 10am to 3pm, education rangers are running a hands-on family adventure day at Liverton Copse, Exmouth. Parents and children will be acquiring a variety of outdoor skills as they work together learning woodland craft, including how to build campfires and cook outdoors. Cost: £8 per child.

The action packed week finishes in style on Saturday February 20 with Bird box and wildlife home making – a free event from from 2pm to 4pm at Cranbrook Younghayes Centre, Younghayes Road. Here education rangers will show children how to make bird boxes and other wildlife homes, which can then be used in their own gardens.
