Cofton Holidays announced best in Devon at Visit Devon Tourism Awards 2018
Multi award-winning Cofton Holidays, based near Dawlish Warren, has been awarded Gold in the Holiday Park of the Year category at the Visit Devon Tourism Awards 2018.
The family-run business scooped not just one but two prestigious accolades at the awards, including Silver in the Responsible, Ethical and Sustainable Tourism category.
Now in its ninth year, the Visit Devon Tourism Awards 2018 saw entries across 26 different categories, with each undergoing a rigorous three-phase judging process. Cofton Holidays will now be fast tracked into the South West Tourism Excellence Awards in February 2019.
Cofton Holidays, which last year won Silver in the Holiday Park of the Year and Bronze in the Sustainable Tourism categories at the Visit Devon Tourism awards, has a strong history of accolades. Only last year, Cofton took Silver at the Taste of the West Awards for its on-site restaurant, Amelia’s Pantry, and also succeeded in being awarded an AA 5 Pennant Gold accreditation at the AA’s Caravan and Camping Awards, one of the highest accolades in the world of camping and caravanning.
Having previously made it to the finals of the Visit England Holiday Park of the Year category, where it won ‘Highly Recommended’, Helen Scott, Director of Cofton Holidays, is delighted with the recent award win:
“Cofton’s success in winning Gold in the Holiday Park of the Year category and Silver in the Responsible, Ethical and Sustainable Tourism category at the Visit Devon Tourism Awards is a huge honour for us. We’ve been here before and we’re delighted that our commitment to excellence has once again caught the eyes of the judges.
“To be named as the best Holiday Park in Devon is testament to the hard work and commitment of our team here at Cofton. We strive to deliver excellent customer service to create a memorable and enjoyable stay for each and every visitor.
“As a family business that’s been running for over 40 years, we know how important it is to create a customer experience that guests want to share. We source and celebrate local produce which is used across our pub, café and restaurant, and work with local businesses that are able to offer our customers an even richer experience, encouraging them to return year after year, generation after generation.
“We will continue to invest in our facilities which includes expanding our dog-friendly accommodation offering in 2019. Watch this space!”
Robin Barker, Visit Devon Tourism Awards Organiser, commented: “Witnessing the delight, smiles and whoops of joy from all winners, it is clear how much these awards mean to everyone who takes part. Coupled with the feedback we sent to every entrant, giving them tips on how to improve still further, the awards clearly make a big difference to Devon’s tourism.”
