Children at a hospice in Devon are proud that their hand-painted gorilla shares his name with the royal baby.

The gorilla, part of Paignton Zoo’s Great Gorillas Project, was created by children at Children’s Hospice South West and named George.

Naomi Dymond, from Children’s Hospice South West, said: “Kate has an affiliation with the hospice movement, but we never thought she’d name her baby after our gorilla!” The Duchess of Cambridge visited a hospice in Hampshire as part of Children’s Hospice Week 2013.

Princesshay Shopping Centre has partnered up with the MS Society to support people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS), by hosting the Big Orange Drop Abseil on Thursday 31st October from 12 noon until 7pm.

Tom Lemon at leading furniture retailer, DFS, in Exeter has completed an extreme outdoor challenge to raise money for BBC Children in Need as part of DFS’s endeavour to raise over £1 million for the charity this year.

Exeter-based EMCAS Targets £10,000 For Charity

Exeter-based EMCAS, one of the country's leading financial Claims Management Companies, is aiming to raise over £10,000 for charity in twelve months. The business, which celebrated its tenth anniversary in August, has been raising money since the start of the financial year and, following its Back to School fundraiser last week, has already collected in excess of £3,100.

Crowdfunder.co.uk launch innovative project for Children’s Hospice South West

The team at Crowdfunder.co.uk are taking part in Children’s Hospice South West’s £50 Challenge with an aim to raise as much money as possible for the charity.

A number of businesses and organisations across the South West are taking part in the challenge to raise money for the charity. Crowdfunder have launched their own crowdfunding campaign with the initial £50 investment.

The crowdfunding project, titled the £50 challenge, will run for seven weeks and encourage people to support and place a pledge, in return for a reward.

Mark Tyler to shave his head for charity

“Dear Mr. and Mrs. Tyler, we have a baby called David for adoption and we wonder if you would care to consider him. He was born on October 4th and his weight at birth was 7 lb 4 oz. David is a handsome baby with a nice shaped head and ears, fair skin and very dark eyes. St Petrock's shortlisted for Guardian Charity Awards
