Devon Community Foundation has awarded £8,053 to St Sidwell’s Community Centre to appoint a part-time worker to develop a sustainable vocational and life-skills training programme for the centre’s volunteers.
The Centre, based in the heart of Exeter, aims to build a stronger, healthier and more inclusive community by improving the physical health, emotional well-being and quality of life of local individuals and groups. Volunteer Deputy Launching Authority, Dave Ashman has raised £605.89 for Exmouth RNLI’s latest appeal. Dave took part in the Eddystone Pursuit sailing event on 13 July, off the Plymouth coast.
The fundraising total consisted of £400.18 sponsorship and £205.71 prize money from the annual competition. The Eddystone Pursuit was set up in 2002 by Julia Creeke, in memory of her Mother to generate money for worthy causes. This year, the competition raised £63,471 for 35 charities.

Stagecoach are supporting Paignton Zoo’s Great Gorillas Project by sponsoring a unique piece of three-dimensional public art - a life-sized model gorilla.
The Stagecoach silverback is called Bananarilla – for obvious reasons – and is the creation of graffiti artist Miss*C, Cleo Heard. He will have his own little piece of jungle to live in thanks to local school children.
