Charity events return with a bang in support of Devon Air Ambulance

With the cancellation and postponement of so many fundraising events since the start of the pandemic, it’s been a tough couple of years for charities.

Now Devon Air Ambulance is delighted to return to public events with a bang byreleasing tickets for Exeter Round Table’s 38th Fireworks Extravaganza; the charity’s first public scale event since 2018.

Literacy charity UK Reads holds a special Story Box Project with Exeter Chiefs rugby star and children’s co-author of ‘Bounce Back Jack’, Jack Maunder.

Hobbycraft has launched a series of Paint Your Own Ceramic workshops for kids of all ages and painting abilities.

The workshop will be led by one of Hobbycraft’s in-store craft experts, with all money going to its charity partner, Together for Short Lives. The charity helps every child and family living with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition get the very best care and support they can, so they can make the most of every moment together.

Former Exeter City Council leader Pete Edwards dies

Former Exeter City Council Leader Pete Edwards has died in hospital following a short illness, the City Council has announced.

He served the city of Exeter as a councillor for 30 years, from 1984 to 1988 in the then Barton ward and then from 1995 to 2019 in the Mincinglake and Whipton ward.

He was Leader of the Council from 2011 until his retirement in 2019. Previously he had served as Lead Councillor for Housing under the leadership of Cllr Roy Slack. He was also Lead Councillor for Environmental Health and Leisure for a short period.
