Jurassic Fibre achieves Future Net Zero Standard Accreditation

Local broadband company Jurassic Fibre has today announced that they have achieved Future Net Zero accreditation.

Working alongside energy-saving consultancy Balanced Energy , the award-winning ISP has mapped out a series of green goals to reduce the company’s carbon emissions by 50% before 2030 as part of their pledge to become completely Net Zero by 2050.

Up and coming professionals at Milsted Langdon’s offices in the South West are jumping for joy after achieving a pass in their recent exams.

To become an accountant, trainees must undergo months of study and career experience to complete their qualifications and pass challenging exams set by some of the UK’s most prestigious professional bodies.

During the latest set of exams, 23 trainees at the firm’s offices in Taunton, Yeovil, Bath, Bristol and London got a pass mark and can now take the next step towards qualification.

Young people, who have been treated for cancer at The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital and Derriford Hospital, enjoyed three days of sailing with the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust from Plymouth Yacht Haven, as the Trust aims to transform more young lives this summer.

13 young people, aged between 9 and 27, took part in three days of sailing between 3-5 August. Each group of young people were joined by a Trust crew of volunteers and a skipper who taught them to raise the sails and helm the 44ft yacht.

A whopping 93% of people in Exeter admit to finding out what friends, family, colleagues and even their boss paid for their home, according to new research released from Zoopla .

Of the people in Exeter who look up what others have paid for their home, two fifths (41%) claim that they do this regularly. National Trust confirms its first Devon Roman fort

The first Roman fort on National Trust land in Devon has been confirmed at a site on the Killerton estate. A fortnight’s dig at Budlake Farm, on the estate, has proven a long-held theory that a First Century Roman fort was sited there.

The Devon fort joins a list of over 100 Roman forts on National Trust land around the UK.

Led by Trust archaeologist Martin Papworth, a team of archaeology volunteers and staff found evidence of a triple-ditched fort enclosure as well as a coin, samian pottery and ironwork thought to be from between 50-70 AD.

New rapid testing device for COVID-19 immunity

Electronics specialist Mantracourt has helped engineer a new rapid test which will tell people whether they have immunity against coronavirus and whether that immunity comes from developing antibodies after infection or the vaccine. Greendale vaccination centre volunteer Ian Aspinall has clocked up more than 100 shifts supporting the vaccine programme over the last five months. A retired police officer, he’s often there several days a week.
