A charity run community café in Exeter will open its doors to the elderly and lonely on Christmas Day.
Café 55, run by national disability charity Sense, will offer a free Christmas lunch, with all the trimmings, for up to 30 people who would otherwise be spending the day alone. Guests will also be treated to some festive entertainment including carols sung by The Rediscover Church choir, and presents and food donated by the Pinhoe and Guildhall Sainsbury’s stores. Police are asking the public to be vigilant after reports of a man impersonating a police officer in Exeter.
Police have had reports that a man has been in the Beacon Heath area of Exeter attempting to gain entrance to properties claiming that he is a police officer. The man isn’t wearing a uniform and is using a handwritten ID. We believe that he is targeting the elderly.
The man is described as a white man in his 40’s/50’s, very short dark hair, sometimes wearing a dark blue baseball cap, stocky build and around 5”8 tall.

Members of the public are being invited to a special event which will highlight and address the risks of a person having a fall.
The event will be held at the Methodist Church in Sidmouth on 22 June 2016, between 10-12am, and people are invited to drop in at any time.
A number of professionals and services will be on hand to talk about the risks of having a fall. They will also provide practical functional advice on how to avoid falls and how to keep mobile and healthy. Refreshments will be provided.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after an elderly woman was the victim of a distraction burglary in her home in Newton Abbot.
The woman, aged 90, had around £50 stolen from her purse after letting the suspect into her home.
Police are keen for anyone who saw the man to get in touch as soon as possible.
