Exeter City match looks good to go!

As of 9.30am on Saturday morning, the St James Park pitch is in good condition and clear of surface water, and the match against Mansfield looks set to go ahead as planned.

The ground staff are continuing to work hard to ensure that the pitch maintains its condition until 3pm, but presently there are no major concerns over the likelihood of the fixture going ahead.

So come down to SJP for the 3pm kick-off and belatedly cheer the Grecians into the New Year! And as always, stay safe in the wet weather.

Torquay Utd 1 Exeter City 3

Exeter City got back to winning ways with a 3-1 win against Torquay United at Plainmoor, and in doing so keeping up the perfect record in West County derbies this season.

It felt like a must-win fixture for the Grecians and that’s precisely what happened – leaving their neighbours from Torquay in the relegation zone going into 2014 and allowing the Grecians to put the play-off spots back into the crosshairs again for the New Year.

The Grecians, however, were let off early on as Karl Hawley saw his spot-kick saved by Artur Krysiak after Billy Bodin drew a foul just...

Curro scores as Grecians falter

Report: Cheltenham 1 Exeter City 0

Exeter fell to a single-goal defeat to Cheltenham Town at Whaddon Road on Boxing Day as the hosts were 1-0 winners.

The game followed the script that City fans didn’t want to read, as former Exeter striker Jamie Cureton was the man to net the only goal in the 13th minute.

City turned on the pressure in the second period and peppered Scott Brown’s goal, but the stopper was in fine form to keep out the waves of City attacks. Cureton also hit the post and Jermaine McGlashan couldn’t quite foil Artur Krysiak as the Grecians were also...

It's back to business today for Exeter City

Preview: Cheltenham v Exeter City

To describe Cheltenham Town as Exeter City’s ‘bogey team’ would be selling it a little short.

The clubs have only met eight times throughout their history – mostly owing to the Robins only becoming a Football League club for the first time in 1999 – but Cheltenham have won every single fixture.

The first meeting came on Boxing Day in 1999, when a goal midway through the second period by Jon Gittens was scant consolation, as the hosts had raced to a three-goal lead at Whaddon Road before half-time.

The Grecians have scored...

Report: Exeter City 0 Chesterfield 2

The Grecians slipped to a 2-0 defeat at St James at the hands of Chesterfield, as the visitors went to the top of the Sky Bet League 2 table.

The scoring was opened by Ollie Banks mere minutes after the restart after the break, as the midfielder – who had been announced as League 2 Player of the Month earlier in the day – headed in Callum McFadzean’s corner.

Banks turned provider for the Spireites’ second midway through the second half as he slotted in Marc Richards who stepped round a defender and slotted in.

Exeter City are at home TONIGHT for Friday Night Football

Friday-night footie returns to St James Park, as does the chance to get right back in the mix for the promotion places for Exeter City.

After a frustrating few weeks, results have finally started to pick up again with draws from trailing positions against Wycombe and Bury and a win at Accrington – and victory at home against Chesterfield, second in League 2, would certainly give a fresh wave of optimism too.

The Spireites hit their own rough patch in October – after dropping just two points in their opening eight games, Chesterfield suddenly couldn’t buy a win in the next...

Exeter City hang on to earn all 3 points

Report: Accrington 2 Exeter City 3

Exeter City got back to winning ways at the Crown Ground with an entertaining 3-2 win against Accrington Stanley.

City had to survive a fightback from their hosts, who showed resilience after going three goals behind. But Exeter also showed their mettle to ensure all three points would travel back to the south.

Tom Nichols, on his first start of the season, had the Grecians 2-0 up within 11 minutes before Alan Gow added another during the first half.

Goals either side of the interval by Peter Murphy and Kai Naismith for...

Danny Coles sidelined for "around a month"

Captain to spend spell on the sidelines

Exeter City skipper Danny Coles has undergone a knee operation which will keep him out of first-team action for around a month. The arthroscopic surgery has been deemed necessary to correct a long-standing knee problem, which Coles has been playing through for a number of weeks.

Manager Paul Tisdale said: “It is a great shame to lose Danny for the immediate future, but it is essential for his long-term health to have his knee trouble corrected. “He has been playing through considerable pain for the team recently so it is important...

Report: Exeter City 2 Bury 2

Exeter City twice came from behind to share the points with Bury at St James Park, as the game ended 2-2.

Former Exeter man Daniel Nardiello set Bury on their way, before David Wheeler pegged back with a volley ahead of the interval.

Nathan Cameron headed Bury back ahead within a minute of the restart, but sub Tom Nichols’ close-range effort drew the sides back level once more.

Both sides had chances to win it in the final minutes, but it ended in parity ahead of a two-week interval for the Grecians.

City boss Paul Tisdale named an identical...

'Moor' the Merrier at the Exeter City Santa Dash

Youngsters getting involved in annual charity event

Tiverton-based junior football club Moors Youth Under-11s are one of the many local football teams that are supporting Exeter City’s annual charity Santa Dash event next Saturday 30th November.

The event, which kicks off at 1.15pm from the Guildhall, is unsurprisingly an exciting prospect for these budding footballers, who cannot wait to hotfoot down the High Street and raise money for fantastic charitable causes.

For the cost of a standard-price match ticket (£17 for adults and £5 for children), entrants will don...
