Police appeal after Exmouth theft

Police are appealing for the public’s help in trying to locate some distinctive items stolen from the Exmouth area.

Two rings and an ornament (pictured) were stolen during a burglary at a house in the St John’s Road area between Monday 29 June and Tuesday 7 July.

The items are described as a white gold ladies wedding ring with diamond cut effect, a ladies vintage Art Deco style gold band, and a wind-up ornament.

Detective Constable Matthew Burnell, Honiton CID said: “The stolen items are very distinctive and are of huge sentimental value to the owners.

More than 800 women enjoyed a great charity walk along Exmouth’s seafront on a glorious sunny evening.

They dressed to impress with grass skirts, garlands and floral headdresses for the Hawaiian themed walk.

Women from all over Exeter, East and Mid Devon took part in our annual Hospiscare Twilight Walk raising tens of thousands of pounds us.

We are a local charity which provides professional support for terminally ill people.

Many women were walking in memory of loved ones who have been cared for by Hospiscare nurses.

Work on Mamhead Slipway postponed

Work on the new £1 million Mamhead Slipway in Exmouth is now planned to start in spring 2016, rather than later this year to avoid impacting on the migrating birds which spend the winter on the River Exe.

The Exe is home to thousands of birds which arrive in the autumn from the Arctic regions and spend the winter here before returning north in the spring. Because of the vital role that the estuary plays in the survival of these bird species it is designated as a Special Protection Area, and this limits activities which could affect their survival.
