Exeter City and Oxford United played out an entertaining goalless draw at the Kassam Stadium, with veteran striker David Kitson sent off in stoppage time for the hosts. For the first time this season, Paul Tisdale named a completely unchanged line-up as the previous game. Following the win on Saturday against Scunthorpe, an identical matchday squad and starting XI were named for the Tuesday-night trip to the Kassam Stadium.
And a day that had been mild and fresh in Oxford turned violently thunderous just as the players were limbering up...
Exeter City FC will be celebrating the role of women and girls in football at its specially designated One Game One Community (OGOC) home game against Burton Albion (Saturday 26 October).
Each season the Supporters’ Trust-backed Exeter City OGOC group organise a match with an equality and diversity theme. Previous events have put the spotlight on issues including racism, homophobia and disability. This year the focus is on promoting female participation in football.
The choice has been applauded by City’s new OGOC Ambassador, first team goalkeeper Artur Krysiak.
Following City’s 4-0 victory away in Scunthorpe, Exeter manager Paul Tisdale was pleased with the result and the performance of his team as the Grecians went level on points with the division’s leaders Chesterfield.
He also conceded that the result didn’t reflect well on the home side, who had attacked with intent and purpose throughout the fixture.
Resolute defending was a must from Tis’s men, and a manful defensive display ensured the Grecians came away with no additional goals in the ‘conceded’ column in the Sky Bet League 2 table.

By Rob Jennings, at St James Park
A youthful City side featuring five regular first teamers progressed to the quarter finals of the St Lukes Challenge Cup with a 4-2 victory over a SouthWest Peninsula Premier team who battled well throughout.
A brace apiece from Matt Jay and skipper Tom Nichols outnumbered Town’s goals from Lewis Coombes and Ace High in what was an entertaining duel between Exeter’s pace and flair versus Exmouth’s height and strength.
While the City fans have been rightfully enjoying the feel-good factor that comes about with a convincing derby win, the focus of the players and management since Monday morning has been to make sure that the supporters have another three points to gloat about for the following week.
The not-insubstantial proposition that stands in Exeter City’s way is Hartlepool United, who are making their 700-mile round-trip to St James Park just as the autumnal weather is arriving.
It is the second trip to Devon that Pools have made this season, with Torquay United being the first – a...
