Four men have been convicted and sentenced to a total of 94 years following a nine-week murder trial at Exeter Crown Court. Stephen Crook, 43, was discovered seriously injured at his home in Alphington Road, Exeter on 21 September last year. He had sustained multiple knife injuries and was taken to hospital where he later died. Ryan Singleton, 26, from Coventry, was convicted of murder and robbery and sentenced to 28 years.

Steve Webster, 42, from Okehampton, was convicted of manslaughter and robbery and sentenced to 24 years.

A 42-year-old man has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of a pensioner in Sidmouth

Nicholas Jamieson, from Sidmouth, today pleaded guilty at Exeter Crown Court to the manslaughter of Brian Kemp.

He has been sentenced to a hospital order with restrictions. Mr Jamieson was arrested following the death of Brian Kemp, 71, on 26 September 2014.

Mr Kemp had been assaulted with a weapon at the Blackhorse Hotel in Sidmouth.

Devon detectives launch murder inquiry

Detectives have launched a murder enquiry following the suspicious death of 17-year-old in Kingsbridge in the early hours of this morning.

Police and ambulance crews were called to Prince of Wales Road at 2.20am on Sunday 6 July following reports that the teenager had been injured during an altercation involving people at the taxi rank.

On arrival they found the boy, from the Kingsbridge area, had sustained serious injuries.

Devon and Cornwall Police are reported to have launched fresh talks with prosecutors into the disappearance of Aylesbeare schoolgirl Genette Tate, 36 years ago. 13-year-old Genette disappeared on 9 August 1978 whilst delivering newspapers in Aylesbeare in East Devon. Police seek man last seen in Devon

Police seeking a man connected to the murder of 72-year-old David Alderson in Falmouth believe he may be in Devon.

Devon and Cornwall police’s Crime Investigation Team are urgently seeking to trace Kevin Cooper, 33, from Redruth, who is wanted in connection with Mr Alderson’s death.

The last believed sighting of Kevin Cooper was in the Mutley Plain area of Plymouth during the early hours of Tuesday 28th January.

Officers are conducting active enquires in Plymouth in an attempt to locate and arrest him.

Marine A launches appeal on conviction

Marine A, Sgt. Alexander Blackman from Taunton has launched an appeal to overturn his conviction and sentence for the murder of an injured insurgent prisoner.

Blackman was convicted a military court martial in November for the murder of an injured insurgent while a member of the Devon based Royal Marines.

The 39-year-old Blackman received a sentence of 10 years for after video evidence showed him shooting dead a badly injured man with a 9mm handgun

He is also heard saying: “It’s nothing you wouldn’t do for us.” and “Go on, shuffle off this mortal coil you ****.”...

Plymouth man charged with Murder

A 35-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of a man in Plymouth on Friday 3rd January 2014.

Samuel Watts of King Street, Plymouth, will appear at Plymouth Magistrates Court on Monday 6th January after being charged with the offence on Saturday 4th January.

Police and ambulance were called to a property in King Street, Stonehouse, after concerns for welfare for a man inside. On entering the property they found a 38-year-old man who had sustained a serious stab wound. He was treated by ambulance staff but was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Fifth man arrested for Alphington Road murder

A 20 year-old man from Coventry has been arrested in connection with the murder of Stephen Crook.

The man who remains in police custody, is the fifth man to be arrested in the investigation.

So far four others have been charged with the murder of Crook, 43 on Alphington Road on 21 November.

They are: Steve Webster, 40 from Okehampton, Ryan singleton, 25 and Darren Twigger, 39 from Coventry and an unnamed 17 year-old boy also from Coventry.

All four are due to appear in Exeter Crown Court on 19 December.

Second man charged with Exeter Murder

A second man has been charged with the murder of Stephen Crook and has appeared in Exeter Magistate's court this morning.

Steven Webster, 40 from Okehampton and Ryan Singleton, 23 from Coventry will face trial for the murder of Crook, 43 at an address on Alphington Road in Exeter.

Another man aged 39 and a 17 year-old youth remain in custordy in Launceston Police Station in connection to the murder.

Both the 39 year old and the 17 year-old were arrested in Conventry on Tuesday (26 November)

Police have made three further arrests in connection with the Murder of 43 year-old Stephen Crook who was killed last week (Thursday 21 November). A 40 year old man from Okehampton was arrested on Monday (25 November) and a 39 year-old man and a 17 year-old youth were arrested in Conventry yesterday (26 November).
