The South West is getting set to go rugby crazy with the countdown to the first World Cup fixture in Exeter now well underway.

Tonga face Namibia in Pool C at Sandy Park on September 29 but there will be a sprinkling of international talent on show in the city before that to whet the appetite of rugby fans.

There is guaranteed fun to be had on Sunday 19th July at Exeter Quay and the Piazza for the 3rd annual Active Exeter Summer Festival.

Residents of Exeter are being asked to stand up and stand out as Rugby World Cup 2015 showcases the city to a world audience.

Rugby 7s: Rugby 7s is a version of rugby union played with 7 players on each team, with games lasting 14 minutes.

The European Grand Prix 7s at Sandy Park is the final leg of the European 7s Series, with rounds already being played in Moscow and Lyon.

Teams who failed to qualify for the Rio de Janeiro through the World Series have the chance of qualification through the European Series.

England and Wales will be representing British rugby 7s and will be competing against France, Russia, Spain, Belgium, Georgia, Portugal, Germany, Italy, Romania and Lithuania....

RWC2015 arts projects win Lottery funding

Two art projects celebrating the Rugby World Cup 2015 coming to Exeter have won grants from the National Lottery.

The projects showcase the cultures of the visiting nations – Namibia, Tonga, Romania, Italy and Georgia – through film and performance.

Both successfully secured Grants for the Arts from the National Lottery through Arts Council England for Rugby World Cup 2015 projects. They are also being funded by Exeter City Council

Newcomer Jonny Hill wants to follow the lead of other young players at Sandy Park as he looks to establish himself at the Chiefs.
