Run Exe Summer 5k Series

Ironbridge Runner Events are delighted that Mizuno will be supporting the 2013 Run Exe Summer 5k Series. This series of races will start on Tuesday 14 May, with one race a month through to September.

Runners need to participate in four out of the five events to be eligible for a prize. The flat, traffic free, two lap route around the flood relief channel and Exwick Playing Fields is suitable for all abilities of runners from seasoned club runners to those who have only just started to run.

ECFC running club celebrates 10K success

Seven members of Exeter City FC’s running club are celebrating after completing their first event as a team. All the runners - some of whom have only been running a few months - completed the AgeUK Wrap Up and Run 10K race, which started in Princesshay and finished on the Quay on Sunday, in under 70 minutes, which surprised one member, Bernadette Coates.

With just two weeks left to sign up for a place in Plymouth’s Half Marathon 2013, organisers GO2 announce that Plymouth Olympians Heather Fell, Antony James, Tonia Couch and Sarah Barrow will sound the klaxon to start the race.

Exeter resident prepares to take on Bath Half Marathon

An Exeter resident has decided to dust off his trainers and take on the challenge of running the Bath Half Marathon for the first time, to help young people across the South West fight cancer.

Joe McDonnell, 20, a final year student at the University of Exeter, is preparing to take on the fast and flat 13.1 mile course on Sunday 3rd March in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust. Here is an old article that I wrote after watching the Great west run here in Exeter a few years ago. It discusses how, dispite our best intentions running, or more specifically jogging may not be the best method available to reduce fat.

I wasn't surprised when it got slagged off quite robustly by some trainers / coaches in London but dispite this it is still the truth. I think most of what is discussed is now old news but probably still usefull to consider at this time of New Year's resolutions...

Teenagers urged to exercise to ward off bone disease

Playing football or running for at least three hours a week could help teenagers counteract the potential damage to their bone health caused by prolonged spells of sitting.
