Pebblebed scoops gold in prestigious awards
Devon vineyard Pebblebed, has been judged top sparkling wine in the South West winning a prestigious gold medal in the South West Vineyards Wine Awards 2014.
The increasingly popular Pinot Noir, red wine was also recognised with a bronze award.
The wine is produced at the Clyst St George winery just outside Exeter.
Owner Geoff Bowen said: “We have a very loyal following for our wines and its great to have this reinforced by a panel of wine experts. A lot of hard work by the Pebblebed team goes into making the wine, from the all those who help with the harvest; to Alex our wine-maker who carefully tends the wine throughout the year."
Last year the wine, which is produced using the traditional Champagne method of double fermentation, was recognised by industry magazine Decanter as one of the best in the world, beating many Champagnes.
The winery at Clyst St George will be open from November 1st until Christmas with wines available to taste and purchase.
Harvesting of the 2014 grapes is now underway at the vineyard and promises to be one of the best years yet. For information about how to get involved visit www.pebblebed.co.uk.
