Coleen in search of inspirational mums for Tesco Mum of the Year Awards 2014

Coleen Rooney has been named Ambassador of the Tesco Mum of the Year Awards 2014 and will help find incredible mums to be honoured at the awards ceremony next year.

Following in the footsteps of Denise Van Outen and Sara Cox, Coleen is encouraging the public to name the most deserving mums in the UK, who will be celebrated at a glittering star-studded luncheon at a luxury hotel in London the weekend before Mothers’ Day, next year.

“Coleen was chosen to be our Ambassador because charity work lies very close to her heart. She manages to juggle a busy home life with two young boys with her business life as a fashion designer, as well as several TV projects and columns she has been involved with. Plus she does extraordinary work for several charities, including Claire House Children’s Hospice, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and she has also been involved with the Jeans for Genes charity.She is a popular personality and always cheerful,” said Debbie Chernin for Tesco.

Now in its ninth year, the Tesco Mum of the Year Awards set out to recognise the work of mums who go above and beyond to help others. Tesco is looking for those who work in their communities, raise money for a good cause, campaign for what they believe in, or help others less fortunate than themselves. The search is for mums who have gone that one step further to help others.

Since the start of the event, Tesco has made awards to 73 mothers and been privy to thousands of stories of heroism, courage, boldness and achievement.

“Each year we discover more and more amazing women,” said Debbie Chernin. “And each year we are overwhelmed by the sheer hard work, determination and passion of ordinary women who achieve extra-ordinary things.”

Speaking of her Ambassador role Coleen said: ““It is an honour to be chosen to act as an Ambassador for such a brilliant campaign. There are so many truly inspirational mums out there who do an amazing job and I am excited to be involved with the Awards to give them the recognition they deserve.”
