Devon Primary SCITT ‘outstanding’ yet again
Devon Primary School Centred Initial Teacher Training has been rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted for its 4th consecutive inspection.
DPSCITT was rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in 2003, 2006, 2009 and now again in 2016.
Andy Ogden, Programme Manager of DPSCITT said “We are obviously delighted. 100% of our last year’s trainees are currently employed as teachers, so we feel that this is an excellent place to train and are very pleased that Ofsted agree with us!”
Inspectors from Ofsted visited DPSCITT, based in Exeter, at the end of last year and talked extensively to staff, trainees and the Head Teachers of DPSCITTs member schools.
The inspectors specifically commented “DPSCITT enjoys an excellent reputation for training high-quality teachers.
The employment rate and the retention of teachers within schools are both well above the sector norms. Nearly all trainees secure a teaching post in schools locally by the end of their training with a high proportion rapidly moving on to secure posts of responsibility within the first few years of their career.”
DPSCITT is also ranked number 1 nationally for ‘Overall Quality of Training’ for the 4th year running in the survey of newly qualified teachers. They work hard to ensure that it is a friendly, dynamic and supportive place to train to become a Primary School Teacher and
Ofsted agree that they provide “the best possible start to a teaching career”.
