Princesshay and local charity, Age UK Exeter has raised over £22,000 since the launch of their charity partnership in January 2015.

Age UK Exeter is a local charity serving local people and is part of the Age UK family.

Each year Age UK Exeter connects with over 5,000 older people and directly supports over 1,000 older people every week. It delivers over 30 services and activities across the city weekly and is supported by over 280 volunteers.

Throughout 2015, Princesshay has worked with Age UK Exeter to raise vital funds by donating their time and taking part in various activities including the Great West Run.

Princesshay has also played host to some unusual, yet enjoyable activities over the year.

A sofa for a good old ‘chin wag’ was set up in the centre to raise the awareness of loneliness, a Halloween abseil, the giant Christmas snow globe and GoKart Party has donated 10% of proceeds to the charity and the annual car raffle with Mercedes Benz, Exeter, has continued to raise high levels of funds for Princesshay’s charity partners over the years.

A brand new smart forfour worth over £ £11,600 was won on Christmas Eve 2015.

As well as all the activities throughout 2015, a wishing well that was placed within Princesshay, raised over £2,900 for the charity.

Martyn Rogers, Age UK Exeter’s Director said: “As Princesshay’s charity of the year, we feel it has been a fantastic opportunity for us to increase awareness in the city of the difference we make to quality of life of local older people whilst raising much needed funds to support our work.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the team at Princesshay and Mercedes Benz for their help and efforts this year. It has been fantastic!”

Andy Littlejohns, Princesshay operations manager said: “We are so pleased for Age UK Exeter and the amount raised this year. It has been a real pleasure to be able to host the charity car raffle here in Princesshay as well as all the other fundraising activities.

"Age UK Exeter is a brilliant local charity and it has been an absolute pleasure working with such a great team.”

For each £1 donated to Age UK Exeter, 92p is spent providing support and opportunities to older people in Exeter. The charity is responsible for its own funding and is governed by a locally elected board of Trustees.
