Burts Chips raise £3k for Devon Air Ambulance
Local premium snack manufacturer, Burts Potato Chips, is delighted to announce its fundraising total for 2014-15 for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust of £3,539.32.
Successfully exceeding their target of £3,000, representatives from Burts Chips visited the Exeter Airbase, home of one of Devon’s Air Ambulance, to present them with a cheque for the final amount – as well as a generous quantity of Burts crunchy chips!
Burts fundraising efforts over the past 12 months have included a range of activities from the physically demanding challenge of the Plymouth Half Marathon and the Cornish Santa Run, to fancy dress days, raffles and auctions throughout the year, and even emptying out the loose change from pockets into the charity pot.
And there’s more to come…2016 will see the brand continue to support the fantastic work of the Devon Air Ambulance Trust as its nominated charity and ongoing commitment to give back to the local community.
Devon Air Ambulance Trust flies an average of 3-4 missions each day, attending more than 21,500 patients since it flew its first mission on 27 August 1992. The funds raised by Burts Chips will go towards keeping their two helicopters flying in Devon so they can continue this life saving work. Operating independently of Government funding, the Devon Air Ambulance Trust must raise £5.5 million each year to keep both helicopters flying 24/7 through public fundraising and donations.
David Nairn, Managing Director of Burts Chips, comments: “It was a privilege to visit the Exeter Airbase and gain a greater understanding of the work that Devon Air Ambulance Trust carry out. It’s certainly inspired us to try and beat last year’s total and continue to support the invaluable life-saving service for the local community which the Trust provides.
“I’d like to wish all sponsors, supporters and fundraisers a massive congratulations and say a huge thank you for helping the Burts team to reach this fantastic goal!
Caroline Creer, Fundraising Director of Devon Air Ambulance Trust, added, “Everyone at Burts Potato Chips should be proud of their fantastic year of fundraising. The Charity is grateful for their generous contribution as we enter this exciting time for our operation which will see us flying into the hours of darkness from the Autumn and we look forward to another year of brilliant support. Our staff and crew certainly enjoyed the Burts potato chips!”
