Flybe unveils colourful jet in support of charity partner
Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, today (8th December 2015) unveiled a special birthday surprise to Meg Clark from Kent who won the carrier’s recent UK-wide art competition held in support of its charity partner, Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens - her winning entry had been superimposed on to the airline’s first purple branded Embraer 195 jet!
Accompanied by her family, Meg - who coincidentally also celebrated her fifth birthday today - thought she was just heading to Flybe’s Exeter HQ for a simple presentation ceremony and hangar visit to celebrate winning a family holiday for four to any Flybe destination of choice.
Entrants to the art competition had been asked to draw or paint a simple picture representing the joy and fun of travelling by plane to see friends and family, of exploring the UK or flying on holiday to destinations served by Flybe.
Flybe CEO, Saad Hammad, said: “We wanted to do something extra special to support our charity partner’s campaign which aims to find cures and kinder treatments for children and young people living with cancer.
“We were delighted with the response to our art competition. It was a tough decision to choose the winning entry but young Meg’s delightfully simple, innocent and joyful painting we felt perfectly represented not only the fun and passion of our own Purple brand but also the sentiments of hope behind Cancer Research UK’s Kids & Teens. On behalf of Flybe, I would like to thank all who entered the competition and to Meg, many congratulations. We hope she will be proud to see her painting take to the skies in this very special way.”
