Taylor Wimpey Exeter raises over £8,250 for good causes
The team at Taylor Wimpey Exeter have raised over £8,250 for three good causes as part of the housebuilder’s annual Taylor Wimpey Challenge.
This year, 12 members of the Exeter team scaled the Brecon Beacons - both on foot and by bicycle - in aid of national and regional good causes. Challengers tackled a range of hiking and cycling routes including the Taylor Wimpey Titan challenge, a 112km hike and bike ride for the most hardy participants.
This is the sixth year in a row that Taylor Wimpey has supported the Youth Adventure Trust, a charity which uses outdoor adventure to inspire vulnerable young people aged 11 to 16. The Taylor Wimpey Exeter team also decided to raise funds for two charities close to their hearts, Hospiscare and Dementia UK. Thanks to donations from colleagues, friends and families, the final total stands at over £8,250.
Richard Harrison, Land and Planning Director at Taylor Wimpey Exeter, said: “Taking part in the Taylor Wimpey Challenge was a great opportunity for the Exeter team to get together and raise money for some really good causes. As well as the Youth Adventure Trust, we asked the team which charities mean a lot to them. We all agreed that we’d like to support both a dementia charity and a local hospice, so Dementia UK and Hospiscare were both our go to choices and we’re proud to be able to donate a combined amount of over £8,250.”
Mark Davey, CEO at the Youth Adventure Trust, said: “The support we have received from Taylor Wimpey in recent years has been absolutely fantastic. This year we are increasing the number of places available on our outdoor adventure programme and that is in no small part thanks to the incredible fundraising efforts by Taylor Wimpey employees. We’re extremely grateful for the ongoing support; it really does help us to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable young people.”
