BBC Radio Devon is celebrating after attracting more listeners to the station.

Despite a blip following a major shake up of presenters the audience has significantly bounced back.

The station now has 200,000 listeners each week, according to the independent RAJAR survey.

Mark Grinnell, Editor of BBC Radio Devon said: “BBC Radio Devon is in a strong position.  We are the place listeners come for news, information and entertainment.  But we’re so much more than that – our listeners are a family and the station is here for their views and comments.

"Whether that’s phoning Simon Bates on the breakfast show or meeting Matt Woodley and Pippa Quelch (pictured) around the county.”

Meanwhile Heart South West remains the biggest commercial radio station in Devon and Cornwall.

The station added 10,000 listeners in the last quarter and now reaches 401,000 listeners every single week, that’s 63,000 more than BBC Radio 1.

Heart Breakfast with Matt & Caroline is the region’s biggest commercial breakfast show, now reaching 213,000 listeners each week.
