Darts Farm celebrates 25 years
The West Country's leading artisan producers recently joined Darts Farm for their special Harvest Supper. The evening saw the start of the 25 years' celebrations of this nationally award-winning family business, run by the three Dart brothers - Michael, James and Paul.
There was a warm welcome in the Darts Farm teppee which was well attended by producers and suppliers, many bringing with them an addition to the mouth-watering feast. The Darts Farm butchers prepared succulent marinated lamb over a sizzling fire pit, with delicious cheeses, salads, beautiful breads and charcuterie, not forgetting a table of desserts to die for. Everyone was spoilt for choice with the selection of regional gin, wine and soft drinks.
Michael Dart comments: “One of the things we’ve learnt over the past 25 years is that business is about relationships. The Harvest Supper is a celebration of our hardworking and brilliant suppliers, some artisan producers such as Quicke’s, Ottervale, Georgie Porgie Puddings, Moores biscuits, Stapleton Farm Yoghurts, Otter Brewery, Green Valley Cider, Thursday Cottage, Quince Honey, Sharpham Cheese and Salcombe Dairy not forgetting our butchers have worked with us for 25 years.”
James Darts continues: “We’re extremely fortunate in the West Country to be surrounded by passionate and exceptional producers, our food hall certainly showcases the very best. We always enjoy our annual supper but this year was bigger and better than ever, here’s to the next 25 years!”
Over the past 25 years the fame of Darts Farm has spread far and wide and was recently named 'Best South West Farm Shop' at the 2018 Taste of the West Awards. Darts Farm remains a family business run by the three Dart brothers; the retail looked after by Michael and James and the farm headed up by Paul. The family business is, at its core, still a working farm, and sells all of its home-grown produce directly through the farm shop.
The Darts Farm calendar is packed with fascinating courses and events throughout the year. To continue the momentum of celebrations, Darts Farm is hosting a Heroes Dinner (14th November 7.30pm - 10.30pm). Expect a fabulous 4-course meal with paired wines (£49 per person) hosted by local food and drink heroes including Salcombe Gin, The Fish Shed, Sandford Orchards, Sharpham Vineyard and Dairy, Darts Farm Master Butchers and Sutton Lucy Dairy who will be on hand to entertain and educate about their fascinating produce.
Another date for the diary is Darts Farm Celebratory Food Festival (25th November 10am - 4pm). This free event is for all the family and an opportunity to meet some of Darts Farm oldest food and drink producers with plenty of sampling along the way. Children will be entertained with a bouncy castle and a magician.
