Volunteers are wanted to help out at this year’s Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink which takes place from 22-24 April at Exeter Castle and Northernhay Gardens.

The annual event is Exeter’s largest city centre food and drink Festival with 100 regional producers signed up to take stalls in the Pavilion marquees.

This year, the Festival is looking for ambassadors to help run the event with a range of opportunities available throughout the three days and evenings. It is an exciting opportunity to gain valuable work experience and a ‘behind the scenes’ look at one of Exeter’s biggest city centre events.

Michael Caines MBE, festival co-founder said: "Volunteering at the Exeter Food Festival is a brilliant experience and our ambassadors have lots of fun. As a not for profit, we really rely on the support of our voluntary ambassadors to help us. Without their help we couldn’t continue our work to promote the fantastic food and drink of our region."

WThe Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate what’s great about the place we live!" said Cllr Rosie Denham, Lead Councillor for Economy and Culture.

"Now in its 13th year, the 2015 Food Festival attracted around 20,000 visitors, with people flocking to Exeter to indulge in top-notch South West food and drink, see national TV celebrities, to learn from the many cookery demonstrations and workshops and to enjoy family hands-on activities.

"Now even bigger and better, and for the inclusion of everyone, the 2016 Food Festival promises even more!"

A full timetable of exciting demonstrations will take place in the Cookery Theatre based in Northernhay Gardens with talented regional chefs including Michael Caines showcasing their skill and creating tempting recipes for visitors.

The Festival will also host a range of features for foodies of all ages. The Little Cookies area is back with activities, cookery classes and farmyard animals for children to enjoy while Darts Farm Teepee’s will have a timetable of workshops with well-known local producers available for older foodies.

Glenn Cosby is back in the Westcountry Bakery to demonstrate how to recreate classic tea time recipes and treats. Glenn will also be welcoming special guests to join him in the Bakery. The Festival will also be hosting BBC Radio Devon again this year for three days of lively and informative debate for Festival Question Time.

A tempting array of tasty hot and cold food will be sold at the Festival in the Exeter Castle courtyard where the Festival Bar will be situated with a selection of local ales, beers, wines and come the evening, cocktails made from regionally sourced ingredients.

Voluntary positions available include logistics support for set up days, gate staff for Festival After Dark parties, distributing festival programmes to visitors and stewarding.
