A family-run holiday park has won a top accolade at one of the biggest tourism award ceremonies in the South West.

Ladram Bay Holiday Park has won a silver award in the Holiday Park and Holiday Village category of the Visit Devon Tourism Awards 2015.

Some 200 tourism companies from across Devon gathered to find out if they had won a top industry award at the event on Thursday night (26 Nov). There were 23 categories in total covering many aspects of the tourism industry including accommodation, food and drink and attractions.

The Holiday Park and Holiday Village’s category was for larger parks, with a mix of accommodation, leisure facilities and food and drink outlets on site.

Zoe House, Director at Ladram Bay Holiday Park, said: “The whole team are thrilled to have won the award for best Holiday Park and Holiday Village. We work hard all year round to ensure that our visitors have a first class experience and a holiday to remember. It’s great to be recognised by Visit Devon through these important awards.”

The park’s success comes after over £2million was invested in upgrading its facilities earlier this year.

Claire Williams, General Manager at Ladram Bay Holiday Park, said: “The feedback from customers continues to be very positive and we continue to strive for that outstanding holiday experience for everyone who stays with us. Following the upgrade of facilities we’ve seen bookings up 12 per cent overall, and a rise of more than 20 per cent in bookings for our luxury holiday homes and lodges.”

Officially launched by top athlete Jo Pavey MBE this summer, upgrades include the swimming pool complex, with a main pool, interactive children’s zone with slides, fountains, splash tower and interactive activity wall. There is also a steam room, sauna and gym, new poolside cafe, sun terrace and outdoor seating.

Pebbles Restaurant underwent a complete refurbishment, with a new menu introduced alongside new décor. A nine-hole Jurassic Adventure Golf course was also created, with a rocky landscape complete with dinosaur sculptures.

For the first time, the park is also currently running a winter pool and gym membership scheme.

Run by the same family since opening in 1943, the park offers a mix of lodges, holiday homes, apartments, fully serviced pitches for tents, tourers and caravans on the 55-acre site.

There is also the option to buy your own holiday home. There is a full entertainment and activity programme, including kayaking, motorboats, paddleboards and fishing.
