Stove manufacturer launches Exeter showroom
Leading Devon-based stove manufacturer, Dean Forge, is launching a new showroom in Exeter, with an open day on Saturday 12 September.
Customers will be able to take advantage of a fantastic one-off promotion of up to 50% off selected stoves and huge savings on leading brands, including Dean Forge’s own range. The new venue – located in Marsh Barton, near the Porsche Garage – will celebrate local craftsmanship, stocking products hand-made in its factory in Buckfastleigh, Devon.
To mark the launch of its second showroom, Dean Forge is also unveiling its latest innovation, The Dartmoor Baker – a quirky product that combines a traditional wood burner with a compact oven, meaning that as well as keeping you toasty, goodies such as crumpets, cookies and even pizzas can be cooked in your own front room. One of these ovens will also be up for grabs in its open day prize draw.
Simon Chew, co-owner and general manager of the company that manufactures traditional and contemporary wood burning and multi-fuel stoves, comments: “We are really excited to be having a presence in Exeter as it offers us a great platform to really highlight the fantastic range of hand-made products being made right here in Devon. As well as this, we will also stock stoves hand-picked from leading UK and European manufacturers, accessories and bespoke metalwork made in our forge.”
“Our talented team creates beautiful stoves in a traditional way, but with the latest stove technology. We are really delighted that we can maintain such a fantastic craft and have built a thriving company from something we are passionate about.”
The company is so proud of its Devon heritage that its entire handcrafted range is named after Devon beauty spots. The Dartmoor Baker adds to the existing Hembury, Croft, Huccaby, Foxworthy, Herrick, Junior and Clearburn ranges.
The company, set-up by Michael Chew in 1969, now employs 35 local people and offers clients a complete service, with an experienced fitting team, as well as oil and gas engineers. Keeping business in the family, Simon’s younger brother, Joe Chew, heads-up the support team. He explains, “We give buyers the help they need to install their stove but also provide aftercare, with repairs and glass replacement. We believe this 360-degree service is really important, as our clients don’t need to source various suppliers and it sets us apart from our competitors. ”
Michael Chew learned the tools of the trade from a local agricultural Blacksmith and explains: “When I started the company I used to make all sorts of products, from farm machinery to ornamental iron work. We do still make other metal work at Dean Forge, but we are really proud of our specialist stoves and have taken time to really develop and hone our products.”
The craftsmen at Dean Forge have developed a pioneering air wash system, which creates combustion of deposits over the glass, for a clearer view through the door window. The team has also worked hard to make their stoves as environmentally friendly as possible, with The Clearburn Range, Hembury and Junior fitted with closed combustion systems to prevent the stove from stealing heat from the room.
