It is well documented that getting a new business off the ground is extremely risky. With statistics reporting 20% of businesses failing in their first year and around 60% going bust within the first three years, making sure a start-up survives during the first few years is critical.

Add in the impact of Covid-19 (3.9% of businesses have ‘no confidence’ that they will survive over the next few months), owning a start-up remains a challenge for entrepreneurs.

WIth the statistics seemingly working against most new businesses, launching a brand new company as the world was thrown into a global pandemic presented even more complexities and challenges than usual. That is exactly what Adam Dibble, founder of Twenty Twenty Property, was faced with when he opened the doors to his new estate agency located in SIlverton, Devon, in January 2020..

Twenty Twenty Property is an independent estate agent specialising in residential sales, based in the Exe Valley village of Silverton.

Fast forward two years and Adam pauses to reflect on a very significant milestone – the estate agency's second birthday.

“SMEs account for three fifths of the employment and around half of turnover in the UK private sector, so celebrating a milestone like this is incredibly important for business owners,” says Adam Dibble, founder of Twenty Twenty Property.

“So much hard work goes into making your dream a reality that it is easy to get swept up in running the business, offering a great service to clients and just generally doing the best job that you can that you can forget to celebrate key achievements – reaching our second birthday is something we are certainly taking time to acknowledge and appreciate,” says Adam.

“No business, big or small, has been able to escape the impact of the pandemic – with almost two years of restrictions, lockdowns, and constant uncertainty, our approach to making sure we were able to ride through these turbulent times was to remain steadfast on our company value of delivering an unrivalled service for our clients.

“We think this has served us well over the past two years and it is certainly something we think has contributed to our success and our aim is to continue to build upon this as we move forward,” adds Adam.

Whilst the Pandemic definitely sent a proverbial curve ball to business owners, Adam acknowledges businesses in the property industry were more fortunate than other sectors.

Adam comments: “Whilst things were very uncertain initially where the property market was concerned, it soon came to light the market would experience a boom – one that we are still experiencing. With so many homeowners wanting to relocate in search of a better lifestyle, Devon certainly benefited from this surge in interest, making it a sellers market.

“We have enjoyed helping people relocate from out of the area and also within the region – it is rewarding being able to help people embark on the next chapter. We would like to thank everyone that has supported us and we look forward to building on our strong foundation,” adds Adam.

An ambitious entrepreneur, Adam hints towards expansion into other geographic locations as he leads the business into its third year.
