Play area revamped with help from the Exeter Foundation

A play area on the outskirts of Exeter has been refurbished with help from the Exeter Foundation.

£5,000 was donated towards upgrading the children’s play area in Exton, with new equipment including a multi-play unit and swings.

The existing play area was becoming unsafe and the people of Exton were keen to improve the park for the increasing number of children living in the village.

Exeter Foundation trustee, Alan Quantick, went to the opening of the revamped play area, which has also benefited from grants from Woodbury Parish Council,
Combe Solar Farm Community and the Norman Family Charitable Trust. There were also several fundraising initiatives through Exton Village Events.

Mr Quantick said: “It is always great to see schemes supported by the Exeter Foundation complete and being utilised. The benefits of the Exton Play Area to the community are already obvious.”

Lead of the project, Graham Murrin, said: “We were amazed at the generosity of those we approached for funding. The result has been a great success judging by the level of laughter and noise emanating from the play area!

“Once again, we extend our sincere thanks to the Exeter Foundation for their part in supporting the creation of this exciting recreational facility.”

The Exeter Foundation accepts applications for funding from charities, organisations and independent projects within the greater Exeter area.
