Sanctuary staff raise thousands for charities
Staff from Sanctuary Housing in Exeter have shown their charitable spirit in 2015 by raising more than £2,000 for two national charities.
Employees from the leading housing provider’s Exeter office teamed up with colleagues across the South West at a series of events to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK.
Since the beginning of the summer, activities have included an auction, Macmillan Coffee Mornings and an office bake-off where staff pitted their cooking skills against each other and enjoyed some tasty treats.
A team of staff also raised £600 at July’s Race for Life in Exeter, when they donned pink and jogged, walked and ran their way three miles to the finish line.
Helen Harding-Bentley, Sanctuary’s operations manager, said: “Everybody has been so generous with their time and money, and I’m very proud of our staff across the region for the way they have pulled together to raise funds for two such worthwhile causes.”
Macmillan Cancer Support fundraising manager for Exeter, Bridget Hill, added: “With 2.5 million people currently living with cancer, Macmillan needs more people than ever to get involved with fundraising. The bake-offs and auctions Sanctuary Housing staff have taken part in will make a real difference – every cake baked and every auction lot sold will go towards improving the lives of people affected by cancer.
“It’s only thanks to the generosity of those who give their time and raise funds that Macmillan is able to fund vital services and support - and ensure no one has to face cancer alone. We are very grateful to Sanctuary Housing for their valuable support and fundraising efforts.”
