Thanks to Exeter City Council's "pop up" scheme the city now has it's first pop-up wine bar at 87 South Street.

Project Vino (www.projectvino.uk) aims to bring as wide a selection of wines from across the globe to enjoy over the next few months.

Previous 87 South Street pop up Sancho's Room is now in permanent premises in nearby Fore Street, showing how the concept of trial running businesses for even a short while can help make to leap to a more permanent fixture on the Exeter street scene.

Open from 12 noon through to 22.30 everyday of the week to start with, Project Vino's aim is to make wine more accessible to people, offering taste samples (50 ml), glass (125 ml) as well as by the bottle. A "taste" of a Spanish white, for example, will set you back as little as £1.60, whilst a bottle of a classic Italian red from Allegrini is under £20.

The next few days will see local suppliers of charcuterie being added to the menu so you'll be able to nibble on some wine-friendly meats, cheeses, olives and the like whilst sipping on some truly impressive wines.
