Bridge Road in Exeter will be closed later this month as part of ongoing widening improvements.

The road will be closed to traffic from 10pm on Friday 18 November until 5am on Monday 21 November, which will be the last weekend closure of 2016. The closure will enable the remaining concrete repairs to be carried out to the underside of the Countess Wear Flood Relief bridge. This has to be undertaken while the road is traffic free as vibrations from vehicle movements would affect the work.

The diversion route will be signed via Topsham Road, Alphington Road, Marsh Barton and the A379.

Details of changes to Stagecoach bus services will be published at https://www.stagecoachbus.com/regional-service-updates/south-west/greate...

Information relevant to Bridge Road may not be published by Stagecoach until a few days before the closure – please check back before you travel.

Stagecoach Services heading towards Exminster will be diverted via Barrack Road, Topsham Road and Holloway Street, then on to Western Way to Exe Bridges, Alphington Road to pass Sainsburys, and via Church Road then Alphin Brook Road, onto Hennock Road Central, through to The Devon Hotel roundabout and resume their normal route from Bridge Road roundabout. Services towards Exeter will follow the reverse of this route.

Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to access Bridge Road during the closure via temporary paths, and should take care and follow the site signage and any instructions from site staff.
