Broadwalk House restaurant plans revealed

The Princesshay Partnership, comprising The Crown Estate and TH Real Estate, has submitted a planning application to transform the lower levels of Broadwalk House into new restaurants, opposite Princesshay Shopping Centre’s Roman Walk.

The planning application would see the ground floor of Broadwalk House North turned into two new restaurants, surrounded by new landscaped terraces to allow visitors to enjoy an outdoor dining experience during the warmer months of the year. The restaurants proposed would comprise circa 3,500 sq ft and 2,700 sq ft of space respectively.

Katherine Armstead, Senior Asset Manager for the Princesshay Partnership said: “The best modern destinations combine leading retailers with a quality dining and leisure offer to accommodate visitors who are looking for more than just a functional shopping experience.

“Whilst we’re at an early stage in the planning process with the proposal, we’re confident we’d be able to attract some really exciting catering operators to Exeter if it goes ahead.

“Progressing these plans is the latest example of how we’re looking to secure and enhance Princesshay’s position as the leading retail and leisure destination in the region.”

Enhancing the dining offer is a key part of the Princesshay Partnership’s strategy for the shopping centre.

Earlier this year it brought in Jamie’s Italian, which has been extremely popular since it opened. The partnership is also in the early stages of the planning and development process to regenerate part of Exeter’s Bus and Coach Station site to provide new restaurants, as well as retail space and a cinema, complimented by a new public amphitheatre.

The partnership’s strategy for the shopping centre also includes enhancing the retail offer with leading brands and investing in the overall environment to create accessible and attractive public spaces.
