Local business woman Sarah Wilde, 42 from Exminster, is excited for her highly anticipated TV debut since making the decision to swap her spatula for mascara.

Sarah, who once worked at a roadside café satisfying hungry tourists, now runs her own successful Avon business and is the star of a new Avon Cosmetics TV advertising campaign.

A self-confessed ‘workaholic’, Sarah lives and breathes Avon and wants to share her story to empower women everywhere.

The entrepreneur started her Avon business as a way to earn extra money alongside her job at the Transport Café. She loved the flexibility Avon offered her as well as the great earnings potential. In December 2014, she gave up her full time job at the café to focus on her Avon business and hasn’t looked back.

Sarah says; “My family have always come first which is why I started Avon. I saw it as a way to earn extra money alongside my job as a burger flipper.  I soon realised that I could work the hours I wanted, talk about makeup every day and run my own successful business which is when I decided to do Avon full time.

“For me Avon isn’t just about the money I make, it’s about inspiring and empowering others to do the same and making some great friends along the way. My Avon earnings enabled me to save for my entire wedding a couple of weeks ago and many of the people I’ve met on my Avon journey came along to celebrate my special day with me.”

Sarah was recently selected from over 400 applicants to star in the new TV advert which launched on the 13 October, she was chosen for her enthusiasm, passion for Avon products and her inspiring, life-changing story.

Sarah continues; “My business has gone from strength to strength and I love what I do. When I saw there was an opportunity to audition for the new TV advert it was a no brainer for me. I couldn’t believe it when I got through. We had such fun shooting the advert and I hope it inspires others to start their own businesses. I’m looking forward to seeing myself on TV!’

As ‘the company for women’, Avon has created two new TV ads to celebrate the women who represent Avon, and demonstrates that over the last 130 years, the brand has continued to offer great quality, affordable cosmetics and has remained true to its values, enabling women to #WorkItYourWay.

Since its conception, Avon has supported empowered women offering them the opportunity to work for themselves, fitting work around other responsibilities and priorities in their lives – it was the company to give women the opportunity to earn 34  years* before they could even vote.

Anthony Wells, Marketing Director, Avon said of the campaign: “Avon’s purpose still stands as, The Company for Women, and today 130 years later we’re still working hard to empower women through our flexible working opportunities, great quality affordable products and our causes. It therefore seems only fitting that our Avon Representatives and hero products take centre stage in this new and provocative campaign – Avon is the only beauty company with a truly authentic purpose.

The ad demonstrates realism featuring the stars of the company - the independent Avon Representatives.  Over 400 applied to participate in the ad, with 60 being hand-picked to audition at Avon’s Northampton Head Office.

The chosen five, demonstrated a flair for being in front of the camera as well as a life story deemed to be relatable to the many loyal Avon customers.

Ranging from an entrepreneurial woman who runs her Avon business alongside her cleaning company, to the young woman who promotes Avon’s products through social media selfies, they epitomise many of Avon’s core brand values – providing women with an opportunity to be self-reliant and fit earning around their everyday lives.
