Business views on Visit Devon needed
The Devon Tourism Partnership*, which promotes Devon under the 'Visit Devon' brand, is currently determining the future direction of the county’s promotion, domestically and internationally, and looking for businesses to tell them where they’d like their efforts concentrated. Local businesses have until Friday 17th July to complete the survey.
Activity is funded from partners’ own budgets, with no additional income available from central government, so spend has to be carefully considered.
Victoria Hatfield, Chair of Visit Devon, said: “Visit Devon is a strong and valuable brand, it doesn’t have many resources available to attract new and repeat visitors to the county. Much of our resource is on goodwill and a voluntary basis, so we’re keen to know what businesses feel best helps their needs. Tourism in Devon is vital to the county supporting over 72,000 jobs and making up to 14% of all employment in Devon, so it’s important we get this right.”
Initial survey findings indicate:
- 93% of businesses want Visit Devon to continue to promote Devon
- 78% of businesses want Devon promoted within England and overseas
- From the businesses that have completed the survey, the top five marketing activity to promote Devon are through: a bespoke website / social media / direct to media & journalists / e-newsletter to consumers / thematic campaigns
To ensure voices are heard, businesses are being asked to complete the survey on where and how they would like to see the county promoted. The survey will close on Friday 17th July.
