CCTV appeal after serious 'hit and run'
As part of the ongoing investigation into a serious 'hit and run' collision that took place in Kingsteignton on 8 April, police collision investigators have released a CCTV still that ‘just’ shows a dog walker that they would like to speak to (see the area highlighted with a red circle on image).
Inspector Rich McLellan said: “We know this is not a great image. At the top of the picture we can see the lower half of a pedestrian walking a dog. However, this is a serious incident and we are asking the public to help us. This incident took place just before 1am. It is quite likely this dog walker lives nearby. This is a small terrier-like dog. Someone may know someone with such a dog who frequently walks their dog late at night, before going to bed.”
The collision happened in Gestridge Road at around 12.50am when a 25 year old man from Kingsteignton was struck by a small silver car, possibly a darker colour, which was traveling in the direction of Fore Street. As a result of this collision the man received life threatening injuries and is currently in intensive care at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth.
The car did not stop at the scene and has yet to be identified.
Investigators are continuing to review many pieces of video footage taken from the surrounding area of Kingsteignton around the time of the collision to identify the vehicle involved.
Inspector McLellan added: “It’s possible someone knows who did this. There is a young man seriously injured who remains in a critical condition and I would urge them to contact us. Crimestoppers offer a reward up to £1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and charge of a suspect and information given to Crimestoppers is treated strictly in confidence.”
The Crimestoppers number is 0800 555111 or email 101@dc.police.uk or call 101 quoting log 53 of 8 April 2017.
