Lympstone Manor in Devon recently hosted Celebration of Speed, an event celebrating Porsche’s 70th birthday and all things motoring. Guests were given the exclusive opportunity to view Williams Martini Racing Formula One (F1) Championship cars, meet Paddy Lowe; Chief Technical Officer at Williams Martini Racing and discover super cars from the South-west Helston Garages Group. The event was a huge success, with over 200 people attending and a fantastic £6,000 raised in aid of Spinal Injuries Association (SIA). Last week, SIA held a cheque signing at Lympstone Manor with Michael Caines, and General Manager of Lympstone Manor, Scott Andrews.

Celebration of Speed hosted some fabulous car displays accompanied by afternoon tea and drinks on the hotel grounds thanks to sponsors including Nespresso, Chase Distillery, Fever-Tree, Frobisher’s Juice, Exeter Brewery and Monkey Shoulder. The day events were followed by an intimate dinner in the evening created by Lympstone Manor’s Chef Patron Michael Caines, and a charity auction of exclusive F1 memorabilia and driving experiences in aid of the Spinal Injuries Association, the official charity of Williams Martini Racing.

On the generous funds raised during the event, the Spinal Injuries Association commented, “The Spinal Injuries Association is delighted to have been chosen as the official charity for the recent Celebration of Speed event which took place at Lympstone Manor. We are thrilled to hear that £6,000 was raised through the auction at the event in collaboration with our friends Williams Racing. Thank you for all of your support.”

With the terrific sum of money raised for the charity, The Spinal Injuries Association informs that “£6,000 pays for 70 hours of support for people newly injured or diagnosed with a spinal cord injury. SIA’s Peer Support team are all spinal cord injured themselves. They can provide the lived experience, expertise and psychological support that makes a huge difference to people rebuilding their lives after injury.”

Celebration of Speed will be an annual event at Lympstone Manor, curated personally by Michael Caines and his team at the hotel, and it looks set to grow year on year following the success of 2018’s event.
