On the CILEx Awards shortlist
All three nominations put forward for The Family Law Company have made the shortlist for this year’s CILEx Awards.
These national awards serve to recognise individuals and firms that provide the highest quality of service and those that show a commitment to encouraging people from diverse backgrounds to realise they can have a career in the legal profession.
Director Donna Hart has been shortlisted in the Joyce Arram Memorial Award for Advancing the Legal Profession, which recognises those who promote access to the legal profession and inspire future generations of legal professionals. Donna said:
“I’m a good example of someone who came into law not by the usual university route but through CILEx, and I’m proud to now be an owner of the firm.
“I feel strongly that young people should never be told they cannot have a career in law, and I use my own experience to show them how it can be done.”
Carrie Laws from the firm’s Plymouth office is shortlisted in the Legal Expert category, which looks for ‘individuals who consistently deliver outstanding results to the benefit of their client, their employer/business and the public’.
Carrie is well respected for her tenacity and commitment to legal aid and private clients, and for going the extra mile to make sure clients have the best representation possible, regardless of their background.
Business Development Director Rachel Buckley said: “We’re also incredibly proud that the company has been shortlisted in the category for Promoting Access to the Profession. It is real honour that all three of our nominees have made it to this stage.”
Judging of the shortlisted nominations is in June, after which the finalists will be announced. The awards ceremony is taking place in September at Madam Tussauds in London.
