Citizens Advice Exeter raises £800 for justice for all

A team of walkers from leading local advice charity, Citizens Advice Exeter, raised £846.25 when they took part in the Exeter Legal Walk on the 6th June.

The Exeter Legal Walk celebrates the continued work of the legal profession and advice sector in protecting people’s rights and promoting equal access to justice for all. The Legal Walk is one of over 30 similar events which run across England and Wales raising funds for free local legal advice charities.

The event was run by the South West Legal Support Trust, part of a network of Legal Support Trusts working with the Access to Justice Foundation. Walkers were joined by the President of the Devon and Somerset Law Society, Mark Roome, the High Sheriff of Devon, Angela Mary Gilbert and the Chair of the Devon Branch of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, Emma Davies.

Citizens Advice Exeter Chief Executive Steve Barriball said: “We are very grateful to our team of walkers and to everyone who sponsored our team. Access to free legal advice is crucial if people are to exercise their rights and the funds raised through these events will help to continue the much needed advice that the sector provides.“

Steve finished: “Our target was to raise £500 so we are delighted to have smashed our target. Anyone wishing to sponsor our team can still donate on-line by going to the Support Us section of our website (www.citizensadviceexeter.org.uk). Alternatively, sponsorship can be made in person at our offices in Dix’s Field”.  

So far, the Exeter Legal Walk has raised over £5,100. Sponsorship remains open until 6th September 2016
