DPD announces recruitment drive in Exeter
The UK's favourite parcel delivery company DPD has announced a major recruitment drive in Exeter, as part of the firm's nationwide expansion.
DPD has confirmed that it is on the look-out for 27 new drivers to join its rapidly expanding owner-driver franchise programme at its Exeter depot, which gives recruits the opportunity to be their own boss and become part of the fastest growing major parcel delivery company in the UK.
The recruitment drive is part of the company's ongoing expansion that has created over 4,000 new jobs across the UK in the last five years, as a result of unprecedented growth. In total, DPD is creating over 1,000 new full-time driver jobs in the UK this year alone.
DPD offers a range of franchise agreements to appeal to experienced self-employed owner-drivers and also provides a low-cost entry option for those new to self-employment. All owner-drivers receive full training and are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, helping them to deliver an award winning customer experience.
The company recently won the Queen's Award for Enterprise 2015 in the Innovation category, for its unique one hour delivery slot service; Predict. Predict notifies customers of their one hour delivery slot in advance so that they don't have to wait in all day for a parcel.
Dwain McDonald, DPD's CEO commented: "This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of the nation's favourite parcel delivery company and effectively run your own business. We are looking for people who are passionate about delivering a great customer service and being their own boss.
"We are expanding our network and our capacity nationwide to meet the continuing demand from our retail and other business customers. That means more opportunities for drivers in our Exeter depot, which is growing rapidly. We have invested in our technology, our people and our infrastructure consistently for a number of years now, so our drivers have the very best tools for the job and the level of support you'd expect from a successful and award winning company."
In the last five years, DPD has experienced unprecedented levels of growth in the UK thanks largely to the success of its Predict service and the boom in online retail. In turn, the company has invested £250m to ensure its technology and network are continuously improved.
Construction of DPD's new £100m parcel hub at Hinckley in the East Midlands is now complete. The facility, which will be the largest of its kind in Europe, will officially open in September 2015, creating another 1,000 permanent full-time jobs.
