Exeter BID’s Welcome Team is celebrating its first year in the city with a host of impressive statistics.

The Welcome Team was introduced in December last year to offer assistance to visitors, residents and BID levy payers in Exeter. The Welcome Team members, Myra, Darren and Paul provide the city with a ‘seven days a week’ service and work throughout the year except Christmas Day.

Craig Bulley, CEO of Exeter BID said: “The Welcome Team has been successful and I am really pleased the BID has been able to introduce this service to the city. Myra, Paul and Darren ensure that more visitors to and residents in Exeter are provided with directions to the city’s many shops, businesses and events. They are advocates for Exeter’s independent retailers, thriving calendar of events, High Street and Department stores and help us to promote the rich variety of things to do in the city.”

The Welcome Team’s role also includes visiting the BID’s 640 levy payers throughout the city to provide an additional point of contact and feedback queries to the Exeter BID. This has led to a more responsive service and ensures that issues such as graffiti and refuse are logged and dealt with quickly and efficiently by the BID’s team and dedicated street cleansing service which was launched earlier in the year.

The Welcome Team in stats

1. Since their introduction last December The Welcome Team has assisted 22,353 people
2. That’s 1,858 visitors and residents each month
3. On average, Myra, Paul and Darren speak with and assist 8 people an hour
