Exeter firm helps motor vehicles reduce emissions by up to 80%
Exeter based Cgon Ltd has launched a revolutionary ‘fuel additive system’ to the motor market.
The product uses unique emission reduction technology that results in significant emission reductions for all fossil fuelled engines, as well as enhanced fuel efficiency.
The 100% recyclable E-zero 1 model can reduce harmful pollutants by up to 80% and improve fuel efficiency by up to 25% for every fuel powered car, van, bus, marine and motor vehicle on the market. The product also reduces engine running temperatures and hydrocarbon build up, prolonging the life of Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) on diesel cars.
Cgon was founded in 2012 by former builder and construction manager Mark Fox and former Royal Navy Submariner Brian Sheard, who shared an interest in fuel economy technologies and motor cars. Ex retailer Steve O’Reilly joined the company as a Director a year later, and the team has since grown to employ eight staff. Brian first conceived the idea whilst he was working as a Royal Naval Engineer aboard Hunter-Killer class submarines, but it wasn’t until later, after more than seven years of development, that the product became a reality.
The patent protected technology used in the system accelerates the fuel burning process in internal combustion engines, achieving near total combustion of the fuel. As a result, it radically reduces emissions of harmful chemicals such as Nitrous Oxides (NOx), Particulate Matter (PM) and Carbon Monoxide.
Cgon received confirmation of their seven international patents early in January this year under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), enabling them to release their product into the public domain and officially launch it onto the market.
The system’s intelligent technology is neatly packaged into a cell that can be retrofitted into any motor vehicle in just a couple of hours. All of the electronics, tool works and design has been developed by the team at Cgon, and all of the manufacturing is carried out by firms in the UK, the majority of which are local firms in Exeter.
Cgon Director Mark Fox said: “This is a really exciting time for us here at Cgon. We have been working on this technology and product development for many years, but we can finally tell the world that our product is available to the market to help drastically reduce carbon emissions.
He continued: “We have had to jump through many hoops to prove that our system really can achieve these results. We have taken our product to Millbrook, Europe’s leading technology centre, Emissions Analytics, an independent analytical firm specialising in fuel efficiency and to the Clarkes Laboratory in the USA to prove that our product can achieve extensive reduction in fuel emissions and increase fuel efficiency in every car in the UK, and across the world.”
Cgon has raised £550,000 since November 2014 through crowdfunding platform Crowdcube and other private investments in order to bring the product to the market. The company are currently in talks with national fleet companies and industry leaders who are interested in installing the product on fleets of vehicles, a move that will drastically reduce air pollution across the country.
Director Brian Sheard said: “The technology used in the E-zero 1 is not brand new by any means. NASA have been using it in rocket technology for over 40 years, but we have added new materials, modern electronics and innovative design to create a product that exceeds all previous examples of this device.
He continued: “There is huge potential for this product, not only will it help improve fuel efficiency and reduce people’s fuel costs, it will help to reduce harmful emissions and have a positive impact on people’s health through the quality of the air we breathe. In this country alone there are around 32 million vehicles which could use this product and we are already talking to Governments in other countries who want to tackle air pollution.”

Cgon are currently looking for professional installers and garages interested in becoming approved fitters of the products, as well as business owners who are interested in installing the product on fleet vehicles to reduce fuel usage and DPF costs.
